The Hackfall Woods are a local free attraction within walking distance from The Hay Barn.
The Hackfall Woods cover 117 acres of ancient semi-natural woodland within a steep rocky gorge of the River Ure situated in Grewelthorpe.

Another local attraction are the Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park.  Situated just 1/4 mile from The Hay Barn.  These gardens are only open between 28th April and 17th June and have 20 acres of beautiful walks, sculpture exhibitions by local artists and a plant nursery.

The Black Sheep Visitor Center in Masham. Visitors are encouraged to take the brewery tour and will discover for themselves how Black Sheep brews its many award winning Ales. The brewery also hosts a Bistro and Shop for those much needed souveniers.

The historic Town of Masham as well as being famous for its Breweries is also host to the annual Masham Steam Fair every July and the Masham Sheep Fair every September.  These events are not to be missed!!
